DS broke EPS foam on MA into pieces!!!!

I brought DS's MA into the house so I could clean it. I had it sitting on the sofa iwth the cover off. DS (20 mths) pulled out the EPS foam and broke it!!! He broke off each side piece and then the bottom part where the slots begin  . I am so ticked off! I know he was just being a kid and I should have locked the thing in a closet or something, but what is done is done. Now I don't know what to do! I've heard of people taking the EPS, but to this degree?????????? He broke off the bottom slot piece. I looked on Britax website and it will cost $14 to get a replacement... and DH flipped cause we dont have that money to spare. And we are going out of town this coming weekend. ugh! I bought the carseat less than a year ago, so it's still under warranty. Is that something they will replace for me without cost or am I screwed?

Dude, that totally bites. I hear ya on no money to spare. No spare seat or spare you could borrow from friends/family?

If I were you I'd call Britax & see what they are able to do/offer you or if you just have to pay.

nope, no spare seat and noone to borrow one from :( Each child only has one seat.

I plan to call them Monday morning.... guess DS is going to be stuck in the house for a while... with us cause we can't leave him alone!

If the breaks are clean and the pieces large, I think you can tape them back together with packing tape. Someone please confirm or correct me.:)

it's actually 6 pieces... 3 large, 1 off the bottom of the middle piece, and 2 smaller pieces from the slots. make sense? I should take a picture. I am going to get some duct tape tomorrow and tape the pieces back together. Monday I will call Britax and see what my options are. I don't plan to take DS out unless I HAVE to... 2 times that I know of this week. I think we will be ordering a new one come Monday regardless if we have to pay for it. We'll do what we have to to come up with the $14.... my son's safety is worth it... AND we are going out of town this coming weekend to celebrate My GMIL's 90th birthday. We can't skip that.

this happened to our RA (same story--sitting in LR naked while I washed the cover.) we had to shell out the $14 to get the new piece :(

Bummer mama!! My ds (2.5 he has no excuses!!) tried to eat/peel off the styrafoam padding stuff on his RA today while I cleaned it. I was so glad I hadn't left the room; he would have DESTROYED it with his little hands.

Hugs & hope the replacement comes soon.

I would definitely call Britax, since your seat is still under warranty. (You registered it, right?) I broke off a piece of the foam on DS's Regent when I was installing it. I called Britax to find out if it was possible to order a new EPS insert, and they sent me one free of charge since it was under warranty. :) (I didn't ask them to ... would have paid for it but was just as happy not to.)

DS2 tried to break his cosco scenara into pieces when we were washing the covers of their scenara(s) when he was 2 yrs old. We have not wash our frontier cover yet and I would definately remind hubby to do that while my boys are asleep. the covers air dry very well in summer overnight.

the receipt is good enough even if you forgot to register.
