SnugRide V vs other models

Hi there, I'm a little confused about all the Graco car seats offered here in Canada.

I can see the
SnugRide
SnugRide 32
SnugRide V
SnugRide Safeseat
SnugRide LX

So can anyone help in differencing all those?

Is the SnugRide 32 their latest model, we are looking for a new car seat and was suggested to get the SnugRide but we are just not sure which one to get.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help! :)

Hi and welcome to car-seat.org! I am not 100% sure on the first few, but hopefully can help.

SnugRide
SnugRide V
SnugRide LX

I think the only differences on the above models is some have front adjusters and some adjust from the rear, different fabrics, that kind of thing. I think they all have a limit of 22lbs and 29".

SnugRide 32
SnugRide Safeseat

These models are essential the same seat. The SafeSeat was Graco's first seat to have a limit of 32lbs (and 32") and now they have changed the name and made it the SnugRide 32. I believe the SafeSeat is being discontinued and replaced by they SnugRide 32.

The SafeSeat has a limit of 30lbs. :) It's actually never had Snugride attached in front of it. :)

Snugride V I believe was to differentiate when there were 3pt and 5pt snugrides. LX may have the gracopedic foam, I'm not sure...

If you're buying the seat new, and it is a recent DOM, there are 2 different snugrides (not counting covers/padding/front or rear adjust.) There is the 22lb/29" limit snugride which will last most kids until 7 to 9mos. Then there is the Snugride 32 which has a 32lb and 32" limit and will last most kids until 14 to 18mos or longer. There are still SafeSeats out there, which will last about the same length of time as the Snugride 32 since most kids outgrow the seat by height before weight anyways.

The Snugride 32 tends to be easier to install and lasts kids longer, but it also takes up a little more room front to back. If you have the room, I think it's definitely worth it though. Otherwise the snugride is perfectly reliable and is easy to install in pretty much all vehicles. I think you can't go wrong with either one as long as you select a snugride with a front adjust on it.
