Sienna--8 passenger seating

I was just told by a dealer that 2007 and newer Toyota Sienna's can have the 8th seat added (for about $200). I definitely want the 8 passenger seating with 4 kids in car seats. Is it true that any 7 passenger Sienna can have an 8th seat added?

You can't switch a 7 seater to an 8 seater after the factory. The floor mounts for the seats and seatbelt configuration are completely different and not interchangeable. IIRC it's true though that there's only about a $200 difference in MSRP between the two models...maybe that's what he meant.

I didn't think so, but his manager told him that...
I wonder if this is possible in the newer Odyssey and that is what he was thinking?
They don't have any 8-passengers on the lot, so he thought I could pick out 2007 or newer that I liked and they would add the seat.
I think he was just misinformed by his manager.

Maybe....I think all Ody's except for the lowest trim come with that 8th "seat". It just crams between the regular captain's chairs, serves folded down as a cupholder or stows in the storage bin. It's not really in the same category as the Sienna's true 8th seat which has full LATCH and an integrated seatbelt. The front and center option is really nice too. I still have it moved forward for my 4 yr old. Since it's just she and I most days, I love being able to easily reach her and buckle and unbuckle her from the driver's seat.
