Recaro Como Question

I have had my daughters Como for over a year now and just love it. We have two covers for it and she had a potty accident in it today when my husband took her to my nephews birthday party when she fell asleep. Well, my husband pulled it out of the surburban to change the seat cover and so the one that was soiled could be washed and put up until the next change and well, while he was putting on the new cover, we both noticed there was fluid leaking out of the base.....not from like under the seat part that reclines, but from like the solid base part. My husband wants to take it apart (which I quickly stopped) and I plan to call Recaro on Monday to see what's going on.....I've actually had really good luck with their customers service, but has anyone experianced this or is this a fluke thing?

My best guess would be that it's either from her accident or from spilling a drink or something in the seat and it just pooled in the base until you started moving it around...

I would think the same thing, but it appears the bottom base is suppose to be sealed (it appears it's leaking at the seams of the bottom base and not from the top where the recline is at where I thought something like that would pool)? IDK, I'm kinda icky about it because I now want to get in and clean it and not leave any type of fluid (which all she has in the car is water anyway, but the thought of leaving urine sitting in the base makes me cringe) in there to start to, ummm, grow things....

This happened to me; my 3y/o had an accident in her signo and after getting the cover off (no easy task!) I noticed fluid leaking down into the bottom of the base  But I think it was just pee, so after a good cleaning its fine now

So how did you get it out from the inside of the base?

I cleaned it from the back, in between where the latch connectors are stored, I just stuck my hand in and cleaned that way...does that answer your question?

I think she's saying the fluid is coming from Inside the base. Not on top of the base where the seat sits. That it's somehow coming from inside the molded plastic part that sits on your vehicle seat.

That's where it's coming from, inside the molded base, darn I thought they would be a way to clean it....I wish it was just pooled at the top, that would be a lot easier to deal with.

OK, just called and spoke with Diane with Recaro, she said that it is possible since there is screws on the top of that base that the urine/liquid seeped in through there. The actual solid base is 2 peices so that is why it is leaking at the seem and they don't recommend taking it apart to clean because of getting the correct torque back in the screws and such that is set up at the factory. Her recommendations was to strip the seat of the covers (which is done) and let it sit out in the sun to dry/evaporate the liquid completly out, but there shouldn't be any saftey concerns or anything with it.
