Got the Nautilus for DS but he's TOO BIG

It finally made it's way to stores here, so I sat him in it in the store. He had a good inch of room to the top slots, so I thought it would be worth a try. Got it all assembled and it installed LIKE A DREAM with the seatbelt but when I sat him in it in the car, he is just over the top slots. Adjusting the recline doesn't seem to make any difference, he is just too tall:(. FTR, he is 6y 4m and just around 60lbs - 49" tall, with about 18" torso. He doesn't seem that much bigger than his friends, but when I compare his stats to other kids here, he seems like kind of a giant for a 6yo....I guess I should have known he was too big, but all the room he had in the store had me hopeful:rolleyes: We are planning a couple of long driving trips in the near future, and he sat so bad in the parkway on the last trip I really wanted him back in the harness.

I really really wanted to see it irl before buying, but I may have to give it a go. I think that might help, the seat depth of the parkway is a big problem for him. I was also kind of wanting to wait for the oobr, I think he would LOVE the scurvy...

ITA, the Parkway's seat slope and shorter depth make it a REALLY easy booster to slump in. :( It's got so many other great qualities that it's hard not to have one/want one :p , but for longer trips, we've had issues with slumping, too.

I'm sorry the Nauti didn't work out. :( I agree that a Monterey would probably be LOADS more comfortable for him and encourage him to sit properly. I wiggle all over the place if I'm uncomfy, too.

First of all...Oh NO!

secondly...ya...I'm not sure about canadian pricing or availability, but how about just a booster that gives more support, like Meadze suggested?

i know, I was just at the store, and noticed that dd gains an entire slot when sitting in the store to how she fits inthe car...

Oh that stinks!!!

My son has about 1 inch of growth left in the nautilus(he tried his brother's).

He is 6 years 3 months, 17 inch torso, 48 pounds, 49 inches. He is a head taller than everyone in his class. He is one of the lightest though(minus the 39 pound 6 year old who is 40 inches tall)

His main seat is the Britax Parkway

He also rides in the Graco Turbooster, Fisher price safe voyage HBB.

I wonder why this is? My 6 y.o DS has a 17" torso and I was hoping to keep him harnessed a bit longer in the Nautilus or Frontier. But if he loses an inch once its installed....that won't work.

FWIW, DS sat in the Monterey and loved it! He thought it was really comfortable and he had tons of room in it.

When you try a seat out in the store it is sitting more upright than it does in your vehicle. We used to lose 1 1/2 inches in our Regent when it was installed. It just had to do with how it reclined in our van.

I would totally go for the Monterey. It will last so much longer. My kid grows like a weed though so I am all about gettting something with loads of room. My 5 year old has a 20 in. torso right now and weighs 65 lbs.
