Help! I need to fit three in the 3rd row of my tahoe. Does anyone know what seats will work? Radian 80? Has anyone been able to get 3 seats in the back of their tahoe? Any help will be appreciated!!!!

What ages/weights are the kids? What seats do you currently have?

The Radian 65 will work for most kids, as most kids outgrow it by height before weight. It's possible that you have other options besides just Radians.

My sister has an '02 Tahoe, and we've fit a Scenera FF, a SS1, and an Evenflo booster in the back. But we were able to fit another Scenera back there instead of the booster FF and RF. We had to buckle the seat belt for the booster though because it is a pretty tight squeeze.

Thanks for your help! I stay home with my two kids and have a daycare. I will be taking my daughter and nephew to preschool next year and I'm just trying to figure out what works. I need to transport 6 kids. If I put three in each seat we can make it work.

The ages of kids vary. I will have a six month ond, 2 two year olds and one 3 year old and 2 four year olds. Weights of the kids vary. . . . .maybe 15 pounds to 35 pounds--just a guess.

Okay, can a radian be installed with just a lap belt for maybe I should put the infant seat in the back with two radians? Would that work? If you know of any other seat or combos that would work please let me know. I want to start purchasing the seats soon so I can space out buying the seats to make it a little more affordable. I don't want to purchase four seats at once!

We currently have two Britax decathlons with I will keep in the middle seat of my Tahoe since they are so big.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Two other narrow seats are the scenera and the safety 1st avenue. You can find the scenera at walmart for $43 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8054497 and the safety 1st avenue for $80 at kmart http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_...Car Seats&psid=FROOGLE&sid=KDx20070926x00003a (there are other patterns- these are just two that happen to be more gender neutral ;) ). These only go to 40 lbs. The safety 1st avenue has a top harness slot of 16 inches, the scenera has a top harness slot of 15 inches. They both have pretty tall shells (which is important for extended rear facing). Here's a thread comparing the scenera and the uptown (which is, basically, the same seat as the avenue) http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=38409 . Here is a thread of successful 3 across pictures http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=33226

I think you might be able to fit two avenues (or sceneras) and a radian in most tight spaces. I think it would probably be easier on your budget. But I can't guarantee anything until you try it!!! Also- what seats do you currently have?

Yes, Any harnessed car seat can be installed with just a lap belt only. They are required to pass with lapbelt only seat belts per NHTSA crash guidelines.

Does your preschool have a carpool line or due your have to walk them into class?

If they have a carpool line I would put the (2) 2yrs olds & (1) 3yr old in the 3rd row in the Radians and then baby driver outboard & the (2) 4yr olds center & pass outboard for carpool line. Most have them exit the passenger side one.

If your having to walk the kids into school then I would put the 3 oldest in the 3rd row as they will be able to climb over the back seat easier then you lifting them in & out. Also the 4yr olds should be able to get their harnesses buckled sololy with you just tightening & varying they are done correctly.

Just so you know you only have 1 top tether hook in the 3rd row of the Tahoe. It sits mid point between the pass outboard & center position. It can be used for either the pass. outboard or center position just not both at the same time. There is not one for the driver outboard position. Unfortunately no add'l top tether can be added. The good thing about the Radians is they do not require a top tether and pass with good head excurison numbers even without the top tether in use.
