I made some bad choices today.

I just had to put my van in the shop for the brakes, I took it in thinking nothing was really wrong it was normal just wanted to make sure. Well turns out even though last year in September I had my brake pads, calipers, rotars, and hydralic lines replaced, My pads were nothing but dust and my caliper was leaking. so I had to leave it they would not let me drive it anywhere, so I had no one that could pick me up but my husband. Well he drives a 2 seater van, well luck had it that my friend had kept my 3 year old and my 5 year was at school so my husband came to pick me up we put my 1 year old FF in the front seat he is just 20 lbs but I can't put him RF in the van cause then you only have the drivers side mirror, so then I got in the back on the floor behind the cage to ride to my Grandmas so I could take her car.

She has a hyundai elantra did you know you can do 3 across with 2 BV's and a FPSVB?

I had a RF BV, FPSVB and a FF BV. The FPSVB only fits if you are using about half way up ajusted or more, but it worked and got me to pick up my 3 year old and my 5 year old.

I hated having to ride in that van but my in laws are out of town and my mom works and my friend had 8 kids and no way to transport all them and me. So never take your car in without a back up plan about how to get home.

at least with the whole van thing my husband had a cage that should have protected him and the baby from me being a projectile as well as the other 2 car seat I had in there.

I'm sorry, it's hard sometimes. You made it safe and now you can plan ahead for next time! I'm not sure what I would've done. My DH only has a single cab truck...

That's a rough situation. I think I would have made dh take turns driving people.

I'm so glad my local service center has a shuttle van. I can fit myself and five kids in their windstar.

The problem with that is that you'd have to have someone to watch the 1 yr old at one end or the other. It doesn't sound like they did. I don't know what I would have done either. It must have been way too far to walk?

Ah, didn't think of that part with having baby all alone... It would be a hard thing and it is easy to say what I would have done when I'm not actually in the situation. At least you all made it home safely.

I would have made the shop drive me home. Or called a cab. But I am anal about seat belts. Or asked grandma to come pick me up.

glad you made it safe though

Grandma has a car but doesn't drive it she can't see well and my kids don't stay well with her. My husband had one hour to get me where I needed to go and back to work or else get in trouble. My Grandma also had my 9 year old brother and that is a whole nother distraction she can't drive with. He is a terror.

I am lucky nothing happened odds were on our side but there is always the what if. Walking was not an option as that would have taken me an hour and a half to get to her house.

Shop would have driven me home only and that would have left both my other kids stranded and me still with no car. I was not going to push them too hard as even though my car was out of warrenty they did take care of it at no cost to me. I had a good day in that respect but had to make some hard choices. I am very tired with a head ache from it all, so I will head to bed. LOL
