Does the base of a ff seat have to be completely on seat?

We bought the Cosco Scenera to put ds in rear-facing in DH's truck and it fits ok rear-facing. When we turn it around for forward facing the front part of the base is off the seat (seat is to short to fit whole base) is this ok?

Iv'e heard that as long as 80% of the seat is on the actual cars seat then its ok, but dont quote me on that!:)

Like PP said, in general, 80% of the seat must be on the base. There are a couple exceptions to that--the Graco Nautilus and SafeGuard Child Seat are the two I can think of right now, and possibly the only two.

When you turned the Scenera around, did you also take it out of recline mode? That will make a difference in how it fits.
