Carseat and Potty Training

DD has just started potty training and we are not using pull-ups, just panties. So, I have put a diaper change pad on the carseat for protection against accidents. Is this safe?

Thanks!

a diaper changing pad is fairly thick, so i wouldn't use it.

we used the laboratory bench blotter sheets, the same ones used in doctors' offices. see if you can pick up a few from a medical supply store or pharmacy. they're paper-thin yet waterproof. we cut ours to fit the carseat.

Depending on where you live (only because some states have cold weather this time of year), we put pull ups (or even a larger diaper) on C before he got in the car. Yup, just pulled it or strapped it on over his clothes. (but then again, it was summer in So Cal.

A couple options: 1) put a Pull-Up on over the underwear for car rides/errands, 2) put a thin waterproof lap pad on the seat.

We used the first option and it saved the seat/clothes, didn't impede PTing, as the kids felt the wetness; we still had to change the underwear while out and about, but that was preferable to changing out a seat cover.

What a great idea with the medical pads. I am calling the clinic to see if I can get some. LOL.
We are also potty training and pull-ups ARE NOT an option for us for potty training. I have just been risking it and hoping he doesnt pee in the car. I have beeen lucky thus far. LOL.

Good Luck!

You are brave! I've been mostly puttin Elizabeth in a pull up. I have taken her in underwear only a handful of times and only on short trips where if she did pee she wouldn't have to sit in it very long. When I start to get braver and put her underwear in the car I'm going to take an extra cover with me but I have lots of covers! lol

We are also in the midst of pt, what we do is panties or naked at home and while we are out we put panties on with the gerber plastic pants on over them, although she fell asleep yesterday and I brought her in and put her on my parents couch and she woke up soaking wet, so they definitely do not hold a full sleeping pee but will definitely hold at least one pee, but she will still feel it which is good.
