Question Help with choosing convertible for Saab 9-3 and Subaru Outback

Hi, My son is 6 months, 19 lbs and almost 28 inches tall. He will soon outgrow his Snugride and we are trying to decide what convertible seat to get him. We will need to buy two seats, one for my husband's car and one for mine. Our cars are a 2000 Saab 9-3 (old style hatchback without LATCH) and a 2007 Subaru Outback wagon with LATCH. I am considering the Britax Marathon, Boulevard and Recaro (Signo?) seats. Since the Saab is older and does not have latest side airbags, etc. should I get the Recaro or Boulevard for SIP? Also we want to leave our son rear facing for as long as possible so any comments on which seat will be easiest to use and fit best. As it is now the passenger seats in both of our cars are up pretty far in order to fit the Snugride and it isn't very comfortable for the passenger. Would we be better off with a Roundabout or Diplomat for the size? Also any opinions on the new Boulevard CS? Thank you in advance for any help/advice/opinions!

When you go to a convertible seat after having used a bucket, you have the luxury of not needing to have the seat quite as reclined, as your child is now older and doesn't need the seat to hold the airway open for them. Infants need a 45 degree recline. Older children can be reduced to up to 30 degrees reclined. Given that, I expect you'll suddenly find a lot of room if you put a convertible in, even a bigger one that harnesses to 65lbs.

After that, it's really up to you. All 3 of the bigger seats that you listed are well liked.

HTH,
Ann

Thank you for responding! I'm thinking I will go with the Boulevard for the older car and the Marathon for our newer car.
