Question 06 Dakota Ext cab

We just bought an 06 Dodge Dakota Extended cab and sadly did not try to fit our carseat into it before our purchase! We have a Britax roundabout for our 17 month old and when installed in the rear passenger seat the front passenger seat has to be pushed up so far that no one can sit in the seat. We thought about buying another seat but they all seem to have such similar dimensions. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm assuming this is a rear-facing install, yes?

Have you tried installing so that it's sitting more upright? It still has to be in "recline mode," of course, but you can adjust the way you install it now that your baby is older and has good head control so that the carseat is more upright and gives the front passenger more room.

That's just a general recommendation - I'm not familiar with your vehicle. Did it come with the owner's manual?

Try Defrost's suggestion of more upright install + place it in the center rear.
My 1994 Dakota had a rather spacious open area between the two front seats. I'd install a friend's rfing baby in there all the time with her son ff'd in the outboard seat.

hth and goood luck :)

Is this the extended cab with 4 full size doors, or one with 1/2 doors in the rear.

A friend of mine had the 1/2 doors, and even a forward facing child did not have much room back there. The seats are very shallow also and the base of the carseat did not sit well on it. If I remember correctly, this one did not have a middle seat available either.

If it is the one with the 4 full doors, then you should be able to get it in more upright, or in the center easily.

If you can post pics, then we can help more with the recline and placement possibilities.
