Our state (WI) booster law officially goes into effect on June 1st.
I know that there are going to be tons of 'end of the year field trips' coming up, and so far many of the kids have not been riding in boosters for past field trips.

I would really like to had a 'reminder' letter out at my daughter's school, as I have seen SO many people with kindergarteners and first graders in just seatbelts, and I many parents may still be unaware of the upcoming change in the law.

Are there any good form letters to download and print about booster seat safety?

I bet if you talk to your local safety council or Safe Kids, they have something official that has the new laws. I know we have little cards that have the state law on them, maybe something like that.

It is a pdf file titled "New Child Passenger Safety-Booster Seat Law."
Good luck!

While this is a great tool to explain the new law, it does not encourage "best practice" such as extended rear-facing or boosters past age 8. But it's a great start.

Okay - I think I have my papers all lined up - but I just have a question about shield boosters. Are they ILLEGAL to use? I want to include a phrase on the form about them because I still see some people from school using them.

what about...

Certified child passenger safety technicians do not recommend them when doing car seat check-ups. Generally, when a CPS tech sees children in them, they recommend that the shield part of the seat be destroyed and the base used with a lap-shoulder belt; it is recommended that a lighter child (under 40 lbs) be moved into a high back booster with an internal harness. Who does recommend the use of shield boosters? The ONE manufacturer that still makes this kind of seat.

If the state has a "proper use" clause & the carseat is expired then it would illegal....
