I test drove a 09 Subaru Forester today

And I LOVED it! The only problem.... I couldn't get my Nautilus installed. :(
I tried LATCH (wich I have never used before) and the Automatic/Emergency locking seatbelt (wich I have never used before)
I just couldn't get it tight. But I was by myself so, I put the GN back into my car and had a blast on my test drive.
I AM SURE IT WAS ME, NOT THE SUV. I told him that I want to come back with my husband, after I figure out what my problem was, and he actually gave me an owners manual!

What was my problem???

Did you try peeling the cover down so you could pull straight out on the LATCH strap and/or seatbelt to get it tight?

No, I had a hard time just being in a good position to tighten the LATCH or belt. The salesman with me couldn't help. (Understandably, he may have been Jesus's cousin)
I am pretty physical when I install my car seats and I didn't want to be crawling around like a monkey in there putting my feet on everything with the dealer staring right at me.
I will be more aggressive next time and will be bringing DH. I think we will get it.

We test drove an '09 Forester for a weekend. DD#1s FFg RN and DD#2s RFg MA fit fine, via LATCH. However, the way the rear seats are, there was a lot of "curve" on them. It might be that the Nautilus is too wide for an outboard install. If that's the case, belts won't help -- the curve of those seats (by the door) is so much that belts vs LATCH makes no difference. We played around with installs b/c we wanted to be able to fit 3 across, but there was no way we could have made it work.

Did you try a center install with belts and TT? If you have one child, that's an option.
