car seat protectors

I'm asking this question because of something I read on another board. I want to make sure I'm giving correct information to the other moms.

I've read that a thin receiving blanket is okay, but I'm wondering if there are any thin seat protectors that are okay.

Some of the moms are looking at this one, which I think does look fairly thin... http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog...Id=85184&categoryId=85220&subCategoryId=86211. If this is not okay, can someone explain why a thin blanket is better than this one?

Also, I think this is the type of seat protector that is dangerous...
http://www.bergstroms.com/bergstrom...eat+Saver&pf_id=PABEAALNDMACLAAD&dept_id=3878. It looks like it is so thick.

I think this is the same or similar to the one above... http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267171. It has wonderful reviews 4 out of 5 stars and it's one of the top registry items! Someone might want to add a review to talk about why it's not safe.

Thanks for your help!

From your link "Protect your vehicle's upholstery. Car seats and boosters are tough on upholstery! Most seat covers only guard against spills--our thick, padded shield prevents dents and abrasions to the seat and the backrest, too. The secret? A high rebound foam core. The non-skid bottom and ribbed top keep car seats in place. Includes handy storage pocket, tuck-in flap, and extended panel to shield your backrest. Imported. Exclusively Ours! "

that one step ahead one is really thick.

BRU sells one thats a thin layer of fleecey type stuff and a thin layer of vinyl type of material (its the especially for baby one). I used it for a long time and have no qulams about doing so. it was very thin and didn't interfere with install at all.

Yeah I read that part as well Gypsy! I am pretty sure that is a thick one as well. It looks thick to me anyways. I have a Fisher Price one that is VERY thin that I do not mind using as it is no thicker than a recieving blanket, but I threw away a Sunshine Kids one a while back that was SUPER thick.

Here is one that looks thin to me:

Here is the one that I own. It is VERY thin:

I use a very thin receiving blanket. I am not sure that it would even really protect the seat too much, but there is a sharp corder in the vehicle seat that was starting to wear through, so I wanted to keep it from tearing a huge hole if I could.
