Question How should the lap belt fit?

Ok, A is in a HB Turbobooster. She's 8 and very skinny. I was looking at her in her Mom's van tonight because for some reason the lap belt (portion of the lap/ shoulder belt!) didn't want to go tight. I think that got fixed. But my question is, where is the lap belt supposed to rest on the child? I've never really closely examined her in my van, but she said the belt sits the same in mine as it was tonight (both vehicles have HB TB). I'll try and take a picture tomorrow. But it is going across her actual lap, the very tops of her thighs. I was thinking it was supposedto go across the pelvic bone (so you could actually feel bone under the seatbelt). Am I wrong? Is it ok? Does anyone have a pic of their child's lapbelt worn correctly? Ifneed be I can take and post pics tomorrow.

I think so. Also, It's horizontal, not at an angle at all. FOr some reason I thought you were supposed to feel bone beneath the belt:confused: Maybe I'm just overthinking.

On a child, the pelvic bones aren't developed enough to keep the lapbelt low, prevent seatbelt syndrome injuries, and prevent the child from submarining (sliding under the belt). Booster armrests do the job of pelvic bones. IMO it's actually better to have the lapbelt low (actually on the lap) rather than high.

If you get a chance to look in newer cars or on airplane seats, you'll see that lapbelts are moving 'forward of the bight'...that's fantastic for adults, to keep the belts low on their thighs, but awful for carseat installations
