Need some help deciding on what to do please.

My son is 26 months old and is already at the top slot FF in his FPSV car seat. He only has maybe an inch left to grow before he outgrows this car seat. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a car seat that would keep him rear facing longer? Could he rear face in the EFTA longer then the FPSV, or would this just be a waste of money?

Thanks!!!

The EFTA, Radian, and True Fit would all let you RF your son longer.

ETA: I just realized that you were saying your son had almost outgrown the seat FF. The three seats I listed will RF the longest (I think the True Fit has the tallest shell) and have a 35 lb RF limit. Since your son has nearly outgrown the seat FF, you'd need to actually take him to the store and try him out in different seats.

I'm surprised that he's almost outgrown the FPSVD, that is pretty unusual for a 2 year old. What is his torso height?

The Truefit has the tallest shell at 26.5", the Radian is 25", and the EFTA is 24". They all rear-face to 35lbs.

How much does he weigh?

Maybe she has the FPSV (no D) which is like the Roundabout.

My son has a FPSVD (the one that goes up to 55 pounds) and has a very long torso. When he was measured last he was a 35.25 inches and most of that is torso. I think that I have kind of ruled out rear facing and will go FF.

I was thinking about getting the Frontier but have decided against it(hard to install and safety issues). I am thinking more in the way of a GN and was wondering if this would be a good choice? My son does not seem to enjoy sitting in the Regent for some reason, but I plan on keeping this seat because who knows where he will be in the next year. I would also like a car seat that is easier to install then the Regent. Now if I can get my DH to understand the need for another car seat(we only have three of them so far ).

For FF, I think the GN would be a good choice. If he outgrows the harness before you are ready you can always move him to the Regent, then back to the GN for a booster.

Is the GN a friendly car seat to install? The Regent(in my opinion) is not. I have not tried to install the GN yet but probably will soon. I wish that the GN had more colors to choose from.

There have been few if any installation problems with the GN reported here. I think the biggest thing we've found is to remove the headrest on the car's seat if you can--if it helps you.

Removing the headrest will not be a problem with my 07 Elantra but might be a problem with my mil's car. my mil drives a 1990 Dodge Dynasty(spelling error ).
