Why a short belt path for the Regent?

I have 2 Regents and two children for them (or do I have the seats for the children?). Anyway ... one is 32 lbs and has the long belt path install. Rock solid. But I canNOT get the short belt path to work for the other seat for the older child - approx. 50 lbs.

The long belt path seems so much more secure. So why the revision by Britax?

It can be difficult to get that SBP at first, but techs here told me to try reclining the seat if you can. Recline the seat a little bit, install the seat as tightly as you can, but don't top tether yet.

Get behind the seat and put it back upright, which will snug the install and then top tether.

This is tons easier if you have captains chairs, but it can be done with a bench seat.

We do have captains chairs but there are others seats IN them. I wonder how it would work to switch ...

I will try what you are suggesting!

Are you putting your hand in the hole in the seat and pulling the seatbelt tight through there? While you are pulling on the seatbelt, put your knee into that corner of the car seat and put pressure on it.

Re: Why a short belt path AND new ?s about Regent!

I did that - but my wimpy weight didn't seem to do much. I'll get heavier Dh to try that!

Okay, these seats have a DOM of 3/06 and 8/06. I was sent the package with the latch connectors and stuff but we don't use latch so I never did anything with the package.

My manual says that the recline bar is optional for the installs that we have now. The web manual says they are mandatory. Which do I go with? Are these seats "pre-advisory" ... I keep seeing that title and I think that they are, but what does this mean for me?

Any regent manufactured before June of last year is "pre-advisory". Basically, this means that you have more options when it comes to install methods. Follow the manual that came with your seats.

Then I guess I took my seat out for nothing ... well, no, I did clean it out!

We get a rock solid install with the LBP so that's what I am going to do again.
