So, my question is: At what age does a RFing seat no longer need to be at a 45 degree angle?

Our seats won't fit in our second car at 45 deg angle. How do you know how upright to adjust it. How upright is too much?

My babies are just turning 8 months old.

Thanks

There isn't a magic age, it's more about head control. At 8 months old they should be fine at a greater angle. For older toddlers the maximum is to have the seat at a 30 degree recline. I'd think somewhere between 40 and 35 degrees should be fine for you. If their heads slump forward you'll probably want to recline it a touch more.

Yep, the more developed their head control, the more upright they can be - with the most upright allowed being 30* measured from vertical. Most babies can start being more upright by 4mos of age, but aren't ready to be as upright as 30* until at least a year or 1.5yrs of age. Some prefer to be reclined more even when they're older.

You mentioned the EB 3in1 seats in another post, so if these are what you're trying to fit in, I'd recommend removing the bases. That usually gives an extra 1.5 to 2" room front to back and will make a big difference in space for the front seat driver & passenger.

In all honesty, the 3in1 seats really do take up quite a good amount of room rf'ing compared to some of the other seats. Combined with being outgrown earlier than the more commonly recommended seats around here, you may want to consider a different option.
