Okay, I have waited a long time to write this. Shame on me. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on this letter to a local car dealership. Also, I seem to have deleted my link to the info (that is currently missing from my letter) on the percentage of kids not safely restrained. Something like 9 out of ten car seats are installed wrong. I would like to include that in my letter.
Any other suggestions are welcome as well as any experience you have had working with car dealerships.
Thanks!
Joy

I guess it would help if I include my letter!

Saturn of Brandon,
I have been a customer at your dealership since the purchase of my VUE in December of 2002. Saturn of Brandon has exceeded my expectations in every way, especially in the areas of customer service and your service department. With that in mind, I would love to help your dealership to serve your customers in another way.
I am currently pursuing my Child Passenger Certification through Safekids USA. This is a program designed to thoroughly educate me on passenger safety, especially the safely of children who need to be in some sort of safety seat. My interest in passenger safety began when my daughter turned one year old. I was searching for a new car safety seat for her. I found a lot of information online from reputable sources like the American Academy of Pediatrics and National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) that I had never heard of before. As I did more research I realized that even my daughter’s pediatrician had misinformed me about the best way to protect my daughter while in the car. The more I learned the more I came to realize how true the ??? survey is: that an estimated ?% of children are improperly restrained while in the car. I began to observe many of my friends, and even strangers, who had either misused their safety seats to the extent that their child would be seriously injured in any type of accident or were using no type of seat at all even though their child clearly needed one. Then, I realized that I could help save the lives of children by simply educating parents on the basics of car seat, booster, and seat belt use.
I am already scheduled to take the 32-hour certification class March 20-24th. Taking this class is a sacrifice for me as I am a stay-at-home mom and have to arrange child care for my daughter, pay for gas to and from downtown Tampa, and give my time. Despite all of this I believe the lives of our children are worth my time and energy, and would like your help. I am prepared to pay the $60 fee to take this class if that is necessary, but I would like to be able to partner with you dealership in reaching parents with children. I have several ideas on how your cooperation can benefit not only the general public, but also your customers and future customers. I would be very interested in talking to someone about the possibilities of this partnership as well as clarifying any other questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Any other suggestions are welcome as well as any experience you have had working with car dealerships.
Thanks!
