super slim booster?

OK, sort of a strange question, but can you guys tell me what is the SKINNIEST booster seat on the market?

My son is 5, very tall, and 52#. Our good friends have a kid who goes to the same preschool and we want to organize a carpool. Problem is, the booster I have for him doesn't fit in their car. They have a Volvo station wagon, and already have 1 kid in a booster and 1 kid in a Britax Roundabout, so I want to find a narrow booster for my son to get wedged in the middle between them.

Any suggestions for a booster that is really narrow?

In MY car I have him in a Britax Husky, which I love, so this is not going to be the "normal" carseat for him... just the spare for going in their car.

Thanks!

Anna

Good to know! I didn't realize the Bodyguard has been discontinued. Boosters are definitely not my in my area as we're not there yet. :)

Check that out, it looks like maybe the Strassier Comfy from Britax? This actually shows 3 across in a Volvo Station Wagon! lol

Hey, that's my car! :D The only booster that fits in the middle is the Starriser/Comfy you can forget all the others, they are not going to work. Well, except for the Fisher Price Safe Embrace booster which has been long discontinued. The other option you have is the RideSafer Travel vest.

Yes, the base is very narrow (about 13"), but it's also width adjustable as your child grows. My 8 yr old uses one and we've been happy with it. I don't think it's hard to find yet. This http://tinyurl.com/afs6g popped right up on a search and there were some others too. GL!

Is the starriser BASE more narrow than other carseats? It's the base that seems to be the problem. THanks a ton!

Yes, the problem with the Volvo is the very narrow space between the seat belts, it just isn't doable with anything but the Starriser/Comfy if you are dealing with another booster on one side and a convertible on the other. Even then buckling in the SR/C isn't easy because of the armests. I have ditched boosters and go with the RideSafer vest now because it is the most elegant solution.

Britax Starriser Comfy is the narrowest base, for sure, but can also be adjusted wider in roomier situations. However, I've found that the Parkway is easier to buckle in our tight seating arrangement (squeezed between door & Recaro Young Sport) because of the lack of armrests.... My 7 year old SD fits the Parkway much easier -- her thigs are crunched in between the armests of the Starriser Comfy (when adjusted as narrow as possible) such that there's no possible way to fit the lap belt in it's proper position under the armrests  :( This might not matter for your kiddo now, but it could be a long term factor? Can check later on the exact Parkway measurements when Grandma returns!

For the particular car she is dealing with, a Volvo wagon, the Parkway won't work. I have tried it. I feel like a broken record here.... the ONLY booster that will fit is the Starriser/Comfy, armrests or no armrests, doesn't matter, the base of the Parkway is too wide. I know you are being helpful, but in this instance, I really, really know! :D
