2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee / Britax - Not compatible?

My Britax Marathon seat only fits forward-facing in the center position (no headrest) in our Jeep Grand Cherokee. The end seats have headrests that are not removable and tilt forward preventing the carseat from sitting flush against the rear seat. We are now expecting our second child and need to move the seat to one of the end positions. Any one else have this problem or a solution? Any other seats that might fit? I would rather replace the car seat than the car

Have you tried slightly reclining the seat and installing the marathon? I know that this was an issue in the Commander and reclining the seat a little bit solved the problem.

Another option would be to leave your son in the center seat and put the baby outboard. I, personally, prefer this set-up in my vehicle as it keeps the FFing, and less protected child in the safer center seat. I can also see the FFing child this way.

If you tell us the aprox weight etc of your son that might help us with some other recommendations too. Some other options would be turing him back rear-facing (if he's under 33#s) getting him a new seat and passing the Marathon down to baby after the infant seat, or um... well, that's all I can think of right now!

I think I have read about others having the dealership remove their headrests for them, after explaining why it was needed. You might consider than option of reclining the vehicle seat doesn't work.
