I would really like some advice from you smart people! I have 3 DS, one is almost 8, 50# and 50 inches tall, and twin DS who are 6 and are 49" and 48 lbs (might as well all be triplets!).
They are currently in Regents. We have 4 of them (3 in the van and one in the other car). They are just moving to the top slot. Now the dilemma.
Last summer we travelled on a plane and I brought 3 Regents with us (checked) as I don't trust car rental car seats. Of course when we arrived in Boston in the middle of the summer and I had to install 3 of these rather large seats in a hot rental car safely and expeditiously it was not a pleasant experience. We plan on traveling more this summer and will be taking a long trip with multiple airline and car rental stops. I don't want to lug these seats again.
I think our boys are big enough and mature enough to ride in boosters, but I've come to learn/believe that 5 point is still a safer option so keeping them in the Regent *seems* safer. That said, I would consider moving them to a high back booster like the Monterey. I like the fact that I can remove the back from the Monterey and possibly fit them inside of a suitcase for travel. Also obviously 'installing' them in rental cars is much easier than the Regent.
So I'm looking for advice on the 5 pt harness vs. booster with kids that are my sons' ages as well as the 'portability' of the Monterey vs. other high back boosters.
Thank you!!!!
