Graco Infant SafeSeat?

Has anyone heard of this? It was mentioned in the October issue of Parenting magazine. It's supposed to be an infant carseat that goes to 30 lbs. I can't find any information on it anywhere though. I even checked the Graco website and nothing there either. Is is even on the market yet or is it coming out soon?

I have heard of it, but I can not find it no where. It might not be out on the market yet.

It should be out in January, but don't hold your breath, lol. It's basically a big SnugRide with a different base. The base has a built-in lockoff, so you'll never need a locking clip--yay!

Graco still doesn't have the SnugRide 2 (22 lbs.) on their web site yet, so as you can tell, they are quite slow to update their site.

they have the snug ride 22 on the site. its not in a separate category but the seats that are 22 lb seats have a 2 as the last digit of the serial code.

The do tend to be late adding new products to thier site though. i found a beautiful new travel system on amazon today but its not listed on thier site. i wish they would hurry up and add it. i want it but amazon is often times more expensive than other dealers.

Does anyone know if it will have a stroller that that can be used to transport it? I like the idea of a carrier style seat but i havent bought one b/c i didnt want to replace it after i got used to the convenience of the carrier like i did with my nephew.

Heather, if you go to Graco's site and use the carseat selector and narrow your choices down, you can choose "seats up to 22 pounds and 29 inches", and it will only display the 22# ones.

Our SafeKids coordinator attended the conference in DC last week, and was told by Graco reps that the product line will be the same in Europe and here. And as Heather mentioned, that means there's a good chance ALL their harnessed seats will have built-in lockoffs! Seat belts don't have a switchable locking mode in Europe

I do hope that they use a different type of lockoff on the infant seat base, though. I played with a Graco base in London and found it very difficult to rig up properly.

Michelle, have you installed a Maxi Cosi Priori before? That seat has a lockoff that's very similar to the Safe Seat's. It's 2 pieces that flip apart, the belt goes through the belt path, then one piece flips back on top of the belt while the other piece snaps down on top of that piece. Make sense?

Oh, and another thing I forgot about the base is that the recline angle is a dial instead of the foot you have to break your fingernails on now to adjust.

Is the dial base similar to the one used on the older literider seat (i think that was the graco with the dial) that base always looked easier to use than the current base.

I actually prefer the new Graco bases over the old Literider ones, BION. They seem to be a bit easier to install for me.

I haven't installed any MCPs, but it sounds as though they have lockoffs like the FF ones on an MA. Those are a-ok with me The foreign Graco I played with had lockoffs similar to a FPSE, and was difficult to get a nice and tight belt slid into them.

In that case, I bet the new Graco seat Stage 2 seat is similar to the Graco Cosmic although it looks like it a convertible not a FF only seat, the XTP model, which granted is different and has those funny legs/base, did horribly in the OEAMTC 2005 tests.
