Century seats -- all expired right?

Hi all!

Just got back from a trip to see my newborn nephew and my sister had him in a very old looking seat. It was a Century.

I know they were acquired by Graco ages ago.....but I think it was so long ago that they should all be expired by now? Anyone know?

If so, how to tactfully tell her to stop using it? (She hates unsolicited advice.) Anyone ever just ship a car seat to someone with no explanations?

Maybe you could buy her a SS1 and say its a baby gift and that you thought she might like that it goes to 30lbs.

Albeebaby has one for $99 right now.

I *think* Graco bought Century around 2002 so there could be some old Accels that haven't expired quite yet. They also continued to make the Century STE under the Century name up until a few years ago.

Not all of them are expired. There were just a few infant seats that were manfactured in 2002. They would look old, though, because they did almost nothing to change the look of the Smartfit over the years.
I have a Century Ascend harnessed booster that expires Dec.2008.

So, it may or may not be ok, although anything resembling a snug fit with the harness was about impossible because the seat has a loop and rod adjustment. Basically, you have to guess which loop is pretty close and thread the rod through. Then hope it's right. Needless to say, they were a bit difficult to use.

I just checked all of the summary sheets for all Century car seats and it looks like all the infant only seats and some others were last manufactured in 2002. There are a few combination seats manufacutured last in 2003, and a few combination seats that were last manufactured in 2004. So it is possible she could have a STE combination seat that is not expired. They are OHS a well as 5 point harness.
