I've heard many times that the seatbelt should NOT be twisted when installing a carseat... first of all why? and second... in my car the seat belts are installed twisted...should I leave them twisted because they came like that, or untwist them? does anybody know what I'm talking about??

Ideally you would fold the belt over in the opposite direction of the twist and slide the latchplate over it to remove the twist, or take the car into the dealership to have a service technician remedy the twist.

That being said, twisting the seatbelt buckle stalk (up to three times) is sometimes allowed to acheive a proper carseat installation. Safety Belt Safe USA's technicial encyclopedia has an entry about the issue of twisted belts and twisting the seatbelt in some installation situations that can help address your questions: http://www.carseat.org/Technical/tech_update.htm#twistedvehbelt
