How important is date of manufacture?

We're looking to buy Britax Boulevard #2 for a new car. I see that the older (2007?) style fabrics are on sale at many websites. But should I be getting a newer one? How to decide?

Britax seats expire 6 years from DOM. Most children outgrow the 65 lb convertibles by age 6 anyway (usually by height). How old is the child for whom you are buying it? Are you planning to pass it down to a younger sibling? Really, a few month difference isn't that big of a deal if you're getting a great deal.

FWIW, I know of someone who bought one of the sale BLVDs from babyage (through amazon) in December. It was less than 3 weeks old when she received it. The same thing happened to me at Albee Baby in June. Closeout covers don't always mean old shells.

Which cover are you considering? Britax seats are on sale at Target.com right now and likely will be elsewhere through the month of February.

The DOM is important because all carseats have an expiration date based on the DOM. For a Britax, you are looking at 6 years from DOM, IIRC.

If this is your last child, or it's a really good deal, blah blah blah, it may not matter to you. But if you intend to use it for multiple children, etc, than you should look for a newer one.

Our daughter is 17 months. We will hope to use the seats for our next child--the plan is a three year spacing on age, but who knows?!?

WE are looking for the Blvd with the Park Avenue cover, just because that's what we already have. Not opposed to other choices, and even tried to get the 10% Target/AAA deal for a Barrington, but couldn't make it work.

The Park Ave I found is at Best Buy Baby and is 260 + 5 shipping. They just called back and said the ones they have are 11/07 DOM, so I think that's pretty good, right? That way it's off-gassed a bit already!

Do you NEED it now? if you wait a few weeks there will be Britax sales all over the internet and you will get a better price than that.

I guess we could wait a few weeks and just move our current seat into the new car ('cause I know I'll be itching to drive it!)

Do you think the sale will apply to an older cover like the Park Ave? The sale will start around the 24th, right?
