I have a 2012 Ford Focus, expecting baby #3 this fall. I currently have a 2.5 year old girl in a Diono Radian RXT rearfacing (center seat) and my almost 8 year old is in a Britax Frontier Clicktight in 5 point harness outboard. He has 4 or 5 more inches of height to grow before he hits the limit for the 5 point harness, however I'm not totally sure the Frontier's headrest has room to go much higher due to the car's ceiling. (Why did I buy this tiny car again?) My husband has long legs so he really can't have the Radian behind his seating position. Yes we use the angle adjuster, but still it takes up too much room back to front, hence the Radian being in the middle.
I have a Harmony Youth booster and just to see, I put it next to the Radian to see if my biggest kid would be able to buckle himself in. No chance. I know there is the thing where you can leave the booster buckled and the kid has to crawl in under, but he's 70 pounds and 53" tall, and trying to do that in the tiny backseat, year round, even in our harsh winters, seems unrealistic.
Are there any other boosters that might work for us for when he's out of the Frontier? Of course the baby is going to be in the 3rd seating position once he or she is born.
I wish seat belt extenders were allowed!
