We currently have 1 Chicco Next fit for my 3 year old RF middle seat. He's 41 inch, 36 lbs. With an addition to the family I would like to add a Chico keyfit for the new born. I'm thinking. My husband is 6 ft 1. What would be the best placement for the RF Next fit and keyfit? Also any chance I could get two next fits in sometime down the road? Any help appreciated... would consider changing my 3 year olds seat to prolong RF and get better fit...

I have found the NextFit to be pretty compact front-to-back. Have you tried it behind the seat your husband usually uses yet? I imagine your older child will be FF by the time the baby moves to a convertible, so you may want to plan on passing down the NextFit and a buying a FF-only combination seat in the future. If you like Chicco, they now have the MyFit in that category.

The most compact seats that go over 40lbs RF are probably the Graco Extend2Fit line or the one in the Safety 1st Grow and Go line (Air?) that goes to 50lbs. If you go for more extended RF, then you can still pass down the NextFit to the baby and use the higher-capacity convertible when it is time to FF rather than getting a combination seat.
