HBB projectile in car when not in use

DS2's (5 yo & about 43 lbs) Marathon just expired so we are moving one of the harnessed carseats down to him (Evenflo SecureKid 300) and got DS1 (7.5 yo and 45 lbs) a HBB (Evenflo AMP) for dad's car. The kids aren't in his car as often and this got me to thinking, when they aren't in the seat, what stops it from becoming a projectile in an accident and how do you counter this?

The Evenflo SK can be used as a HBB booster and we expect that we will be converting to the HBB mode at some point with these so I looked through the Manual for the EFSK and it says to NOT use the latch hooks and car seatbelt at the same time. That said, can you loosely use the Latch hooks to secure the seat for when it is not in use? I KNOW without a question of a doubt that DH won't think to seatbelt it in when the kids aren't there.

What about the EF AMP? How do you secure that when the kids aren't in the car?

TIA!

This is why some boosters have Latch straps. If they don't it's best to buckle them in when not in use (just teach the kids to re-buckle the empty booster when they get out).

For the secure Kids - are you looking in the section for harnessing when it says to not use the Latch & seatbelt at the same time? I would guess that's a warning for when it's used as a harnessed seat. Pg 36 of the SK manual I fond on line has a warning saying to secure the seat with latch so that it doesn't become a projectile when not in use.

ETA - when using latch for a booster it does not need to be as tight as you have a harnessed seat. Some wiggle is OK and sometimes needed depending on how the seat is located in relation to the buckles. At least one HBB (Recaro) doesn't even have the ability to tighten the latch straps.
