What kind of car seats can safely go in an older vehicle that doesn't have the retractable seat belts?? It's a 94 Suburban

Any seat can be installed with a locking clip, which holds the lap/shoulder belt tight. If you want to install with the lap-only belt, it may be really easy if is the kind with a "tail" that you pull to tighten the belt. You can test it to see if the part that goes over your lap loosens after you tighten it. There is also a chance that there are locking latchplates on the lap/shoulder belts, but I couldn't find a good enough photo to tell myself. Basically, if you can sit in the seating position, buckle and tighten the belt, and you can't pull the lap belt up (loosen it), you have a locking latchplate and don't need a locking clip. The good news it that installations are generally very easy with locking latchplates!

Is anyone else riding in the back seat? Adult riders would not be safe in the second row if you have a bench there, but the captain's chairs look to have adequate head support.

Let us know if you need more help!

The other thing to look out for is the ability to tether a forward facing seat. If your child(ren) is/are small enough to ride rear facing that would be ideal. (There are reasonably priced car seats that can let kids rear face to 50 pounds.)

How old and heavy are your kids? How many? Will anyone else be riding in the back seats with them?
