"Has anybody seen this ad campaign about Child Safety Car Seats?
Saying keep Your kids in their car seats till they are 4 foot 9
4 foot 9?????????????????
That's crazy! People...that's nearly five feet tall!
I know shorter 40 year Olds.
Talk about a bunch of traumatized Kids. Can You imagine taking you Kids to Junior High In A CAR SEAT???
Or how about if You had a short High School Sophomore...that would go over REAL well.
They would never, and I mean NEVER live it down. I can understand and heartily approve of child safety but Great God Amighty peeps, this is ridiculous
4 foot 9????????
Your thoughts on this latest assault on common sense in America?"

Ticked me off royally. Its one thing to privately enjoy your ignorance and suffer the consequences, but to blissfully spread it around like stupidity is worth sharing? Sorry. I sound harsh. But he didn' teven make any sense! Since WHEN are middle schoolers that tiny. YEah, I know some are, but most aren't. And besides, its the same thing as my giant son, lol, just cuz he's 40lbs and 41" doesn't mean he belongs in a booster, and when he was 12 months and 28lbs, he didn't need to be forward facing yet either...Size isn't all that matters its size and age.

But look at me, preaching to the choir. Anyone else wanna answer, too? LOL And just look at all the people agreeing with him?

How ignorant!

What's funny is that I'm 4'11". And I've been this height since 12 years old. I've always been the shortest in my classes too. . .so I don't think there are many 4'9" sophomores walking around.

In fact, I don't think I've enountered a 4'9" adult that wasn't a little person. 4'9" just really is short and if a person is that height, then they definitley need a booster. I'm a full 2 inches taller and could use a booster in many cars that I ride in. I don't think it's "baby-ish" I think it's safe.

WOOHOO!!!! We now outnumber him, so maybe when people see his question, they'll be less likely to follow his lead. Thanks guys, I sure feel better knowing he didn't get to share his ignorance without being royally rebuffed. And I got several ideas for comments to make when people make his arguments.

I hate Yahoo! & refuse to post there just because I don't want to deal with it ... but anyone is welcome to remind this person that 4'9" is still not a definitive indication that the seatbelt fits correctly (I'm 5'4" & don't fit the backseat of our '97 Civic) + that Germany has a 4'11" or 12 years old requirement (with much lower rate of of injury to the age group) + include a link to the 1st image in my Misuse album (showing real life Seatbelt Syndrome) + that kids who know that their parents are acting out of love & caring for utmost safety are not at all traumatized (not using a booster before the child fits the seatbelt alone has in fact resulted in many many cases of permanent traumatic injury & death!) :twocents:
