I had a very minor collision where I backed into a parked car coming out of our driveway; we had a Britax Marathon and Frontier in the car at the time, but since the damage to our car was minimal (ding in side, scratched bumper) and we were going about 5 mph it seemed like this clearly didn't meet Britax's standard for replacement. However, our insurance claim has a note asking about it because apparently California has a law about replacing occupied seats after any collision. The Marathon was occupied, but as far as I can tell sustained no damage. Is there a reason to be concerned about it or to replace it? Insurance would cover it, but since this is an at fault accident I don't really want the total claim to be any higher than it needs to be.
(The Frontier was unoccupied but is, ironically, getting replaced anyway because the repair shop wanted to start working before I got there to take the seats out, couldn't figure out the ClickTight mechanism, and took the whole seat apart in order to get the locking plate off. :/ )
Thanks!
