BEST HIGH BACK BOOSTER??!!

Hi,
We drive a 2008 Honda Odyssey and our 7-year-old is currently in a Britax Pinnacle, with the 5-point harness, in a captain's seat, middle row. Our 5-year-old seems to be growing out of her Radian by shoulder height (annoying!), so we are considering passing down the Pinnacle to her and buying a regular high back booster for my 7-year-old. This makes me nervous as I'd like to keep her in the harness, but I know she's ready for a regular high back booster without the 5-point.

What's the best seat if $ is not a factor? I love Britax. Britax Parkway? Or is the Clek Oobr better? Any others to consider? I know technically no one can say one is "safer" than the others, but I also know sometimes the quality of one seat over the other can be apparent. Best booster??

Also, is there a link somewhere where the "fit" was rated? I remember seeing something like that quite awhile ago....

Thanks!

If cost is truly not a factor, I would check out one of the Cybex boosters. They are supposed to be good for kids who are learning to ride in a booster because they have a reclining headrest which keeps their head from flopping forward when asleep. Seems like a nice feature. Also tons of EPS foam and nice padding. The m-fix (the newest Cybex booster, I believe) also has telescoping linear side impact protection (which, if it works as well as the LSP on their infant seats, is pretty awesome).

The Cybex seats are not the absolute tallest, though. So if she has a long torso, then maybe a parkway would be better? I don't know enough about boosters to know which are the tallest.

I am not familiar with your vehicle -- does the seating position you are planning to use the booster in have sufficient head support for her? The Diono Cambria requires head support.

I very much enjoy the convenience of a latchable booster so that's something to think about as well. Otherwise you need to remember, or have the child remember, to rebuckle the empty seat.

Booster fit is ALL about belt fit. Can you take your child shopping with you? Have her sit it some in the van and adjust it properly, have her lean forward and back and see that the shoulder belt retracts (try this on several height settings to make sure it's a good fit long term). See what SHE thinks - can she buckle herself? Is one easier than another? I quite like the Monterey but haven't used a new Parkway. If you are in Canada you don't have the option of the Cybex boosters unfortunately.

I'm sorry! I seem to have a bad track record of not realizing that a post is in the Canadian forum and recommending seats that aren't available in Canada. :-(

Oh, that's too bad - sounded like a promising seat. I am in Canada. I appreciate the response though. :)

Yes, I know I definitely want a latchable booster, that's for sure!

I can take her shopping yes. Good idea - I will try those suggestions for fit for long term. Wouldn't have thought of that.

I love the Graco Affix. It has fit my 2 slim booster riders very well, and one is very tall and one very short.

How tall is she? I'm coming from the perspective of having tall kids, but just keep in mind that at 7yo if she's tall, you might want a taller booster.
