Ok, maybe turning it long ways, if they can do that. I m not sure it could be done, because it's blocked by the foam in the front. You can't turn it from the front. It is a metal retainer plate, and it does slip into the slot. Then it kept slipping back out. I didn't know to turn it sideways, and was trying to do this quickly in a parking lot. We do have one, but I didn't want to mess with that one. The person who did it played dumb about it, but it would seem it had to be worked out of there. This is in a car were the tether blocks the trunk and runs across the back all the way. So, I'm thinking rather than removing it properly from the hook when the trunk was needed, this person did it by working it out of the seat.
