Diono carseats

I heard that even though the Diono Rainier and Pacifica have the same specs, the pacifica will last a little longer in height. Is this true?
I need a narrow seat for travel, does the wider width between the new models and the RXT make much of a difference? I don't need 3 across but there will be 2 adults in the back along with the carseat.

The Pacifica will last a bit longer in height because the head wings won't get in the way of the shoulders like they would on the Ranier. Diono (in the U.S., not Canada) allows forward facing when the shoulders are above the top slots so this is where the head wings can pose a problem and the seat may be outgrown slightly sooner.

Are Diono seats hard to install with a seatbelt?
It will be installed in a chrysler 500 and a pontiac vibe. I will be flying to my destination and will be using these cars when I get there.

Yes, the install can be tricky in some cars, forward facing. You might need to twist the female buckle of the seat up to 3 times and pop the recline foot. My SO has a Matrix, which is the Vibe's twin and the Radian installs OK (with a couple of bad words!).

What about the Harmony Defender? Way lighter than the Radian!

Do you mean a Chrysler 300? I have installed a Radian in the center, FF, with seatbelt in one (a 2014, but it looked basically the same as the 2005 it replaced). It was not difficult, and that back seat is nice and wide.

I had the R120 and now have the Pacifica. If I didn't need the higher weight limit, I'd get the R120. I have had to install it in a few different cars and have managed but it's not as easy as some of my other seats. I just had it in a rental Cruze & it wouldn't fit in either outboard positions because the head rests were in the way & were not removable. I had to put it in center where it just barely fit & took quite a while to get I stalked securely.
