Question Need 5 point advice for 6 year old

Our car was totaled and my son's Frontier 90 was in there. I got online to order a new one today, only to discover that they have discontinued them. My son is 48 inches tall and about 60 lbs. I want to keep him in a 5 point harness if possible. I'm sort of out of the loop on the new seats, does anyone have any recommendations?

My child is 5.5 years old and too big for the Securekid. The straps are below his shoulders. He is 48 lbs. Tall, but gee!

So I moved him to a booster. I was going to use the Frontier 90 we had but sold it because anyway, it won't work for our situation of having to move a seat forward come Fall. It has to be a seat I can easily remove for carline. And Frontier90 was not it! Also, it was too hard to tighten for us.

Britax does still make the Frontier, but it is now the Frontier Clicktight. Amazon.com : Britax Frontier G1.1 ClickTight Harness-2-Booster Car Seat, Congo : Baby It is certainly hard to find online, but a few sites do have it in stock. :)

At 48 inches and 60 pounds, he would probably also fit just fine in the Evenflo SecureKid or Graco Nautilus.

(If you do order through Amazon, please use the car-seat.org link!)

Depends on torso height I suppose. I know my 50" (50 lb) kid would be too big for the nautilus in harness mode. he outgrew the Frontier 80 in harness mode a couple of year ago. Plus, the nautilus just offers so much less seating room and leg support. I can't imagine a 48" 60lbs child being comfortable in it. Especially a boy with how close the crotch strap is.

I can't imagine a child of those stats being comfy in a Nautilus either. I would get a Pioneer, Frontier, or a booster.

I agree completely!! My 46" tall kiddo outgrew all the combo seats except the Frontier or Pioneer already.
