Mayday! Regent Seam at the Bottom - Anyone else have this?

I just bought a Britax Regent for my 4 yr. old dd (she actually chose the Sahara cover over the Madison!?!). Last night I took it out of the box and tiny, plastic flakes scattered all over my floor and I immediately noticed a shiny but rough welded seam circling the the curved part of the base where the back angles into the bottom. The DOM is 9/07.

I am dying to call customer service, but it is Sunday & they are not open. Is this seam normal or prevalent? Does anyone else have this on their Regent? I'm hesitant to install it, but I need to use this seat right away, as my dd is too big for her other seat and we have places we need to go today. Is there anybody out there who knows definitively about this seam?

I noticed that seam on the Regent at BRU last week when I was there playing around. I'd guess it's normal. :twocents:
