Oh wow!! Congrats!! I can't imagine 13lbs :eek:. That's seriously double the size of my babies. Mine are about that size at 4mo LOL

I couldn't either, until they weighed him! We do have big babies in my family, but mostly in the 9 pound range. I've broken the record twice: DS1 was 10 pounds 13.5 oz, and DS3 blew that record right out of the water.

My family has big babies, but nowhere close to 13 pounds! You're incredible!

"Our" babies are usually 21.5-23.5" long, and are usually 8.5-11.0 pounds at birth. Most newborn babies in my family are too big for newborn diapers, and too long for newborn clothes. They also usually outgrow most 0-3 month clothing by the time they are a few weeks old. I'm assuming your guy is similar. :p

My daughter's best bud was born 2 weeks after her. I thought she was a decent size at 8lbs 3 oz but her best bud weighed in at 12+ lbs! He went straight into 3-6 month clothing, iirc. And he was a completely drug free vaginal birth. Mama had gestational diabetes though, which can explain the weight.

At birth, he was measured as 22.5", but this morning he was measured at 23.25". He's about a week old. I'm guessing most of that difference has to do with the fact that he can stretch out more.

And yes, he's in 3-6 month clothes. And he was a home birth, with a 5 minute pushing stage, including about 90 seconds of shoulder dystocia. I did not have GD as far as anyone can tell (it can be missed, but my midwife also checked my blood sugar a couple days after he was born, and it was totally normal.)

And I meant the 9-10 pound range above, as in "9 pounds X ounces" with occasional babies just above or just below. Oddly enough, I also hold the low birth weight record for my family: DS2 was only 8 pounds 2 ounces.
