Saw the new Britax marathon today at BRU. Has anyone else noticed that there is little side impact protection for the head on the marathon once it's harness is raised. The line for Max shoulder height was about 3-4" from the top of the shell and that headrest is just flimsy fabric and padding. I didn't have a kid with me to try it out, but it seems lacking.

I haven't seen it yet but that does seem odd. Although currently there aren't any standards for side impact protection so...

the current models are the same. the head rests only function is for the no rethread harness. if you strip the no rethread off its a basic shell seat that is used ff ing until the child's ears are at the top of the shell

I agree that it seems lacking, and wouldn't feel comfortable RFIng past the height of the shell because of it. I was wondering before the seats even came out if they were actually even going to allow RFing above the Marathon CT shell and was told they were. I guess they really are, which surprises me. I want to check them out and see if the headrest is any different from a marathon 70.
