We have a new (old) dog. She's about 85 pounds right now, hopefully that will decrease by 10-15 pounds. I drive a Sienna and I have 4 kids. I have an IMMI Pet Buckle we used many years back with our previous dog, but not only are we having trouble finding somewhere to attach it (plus she looks miserable in it), but I also have been reading pet harness ratings today here: http://centerforpetsafety.org/wp-con..._rev101113.pdf and the IMMI was the lowest rated of all and had catastrophic failure of the stitching in all sizes . So, I need a new solution.
She's too big to have her crate in the car along with 4 kids. She can ride in the rear cargo well when we don't have anything else back there, but I would love to be able to attach her on the floorboards in the back when necessary. We have the captain's chair by the door removed right now, so there are all those anchor points that the chair is usually attached to, which should be strong enough to use as anchor points. I can't find a highly rated harness that would work to attach to those, though. The best harness looks to only be intended to use with the dog sitting on the vehicle seat, and that won't work due to all the kids. I don't want her to be a giant projectile in the event of an accident.
