:scratcheshead: so the point is to protect baby from projectiles?? how about limiting the projectiles in the vehicle? That would be free....:p

Projectiles and fire...

Not sure of height and weight limitations, but if ERF is 5 X safer and you can't safely RF due to legs and arms extending past the shell, I think you would be losing more safety benefits than you would gain with the kevlar shield.

Agreed.

*I* think that this is one of those ideas that sounds great from an onlookers perspective, but is quite impractical in real life. Would I like to have a Kevlar shield pop out around me? Heck yeah, that would be awesome. Practical? Not exactly.

In general, we see a fairly high level of car seat misuse, but misuse of this seat seems like it could have even more deadly consequences (baby is too large and limbs extend beyond the shell then air bag inflates and breaks limbs, baby is not buckled properly and impacts the air bag, etc). Burning alive in a vehicle is certainly a risk but how often does this happen? (I really have no idea on stats for that, but am curious as I imagine it isn't often) Is it worth the risks of having an airbag around baby?
