Question Broken arm rest on Frontier...

Just noticed that one of the arm rests on DS's Frontier is loose. The red plastic piece where the screw goes through has broken. Can this be replaced? Is it a common problem - ie is this covered under any sort of recall/warranty? Is the seat safe to use in the meantime?

Thanks!

Yes to what Angela said - but I have also heard of seats being replaced for this issue. Call Britax in the morning. Do you have something else you can use in the meantime?

http://www.britaxusa.com/store/browse/car-seats-retired/frontier-85?Page=2 You can buy a replacement arm but it is expensive w/ shipping. Call & see what they say.

This is listed as just the black part, it doesn't include the red part, which OP said is what is cracked. I've heard of this issue before and the person got a replacement seat. The red part is bolted in, I would imagine with a certain torque, so I doubt it's something that they'd have a parent replace.

What model? (85, 90, original) It is very unlikely that the part can be replaced. I would discontinue use of the seat if possible and contact Britax.

It's an XT. Does the broken armrest compromise the safety of the seat while in harness mode? Need to use it tomorrow and don't really have another option.

I was told that it was safe to use in harness mode with a broken armrest. Of course, Murphy's Law, I needed it for a booster kid.

I wouldn't be concerned, myself, using it in harness mode. I would not use it in booster mode with a broken arm rest as the arm rests are load-bearing parts of a booster in a collision.

If you look at the picture of the replacement part, even though it is in B&W, if seems to be the whole piece to me with the red part coming off of the bottom.

That's what I thought - thanks! I knew it couldn't be used in booster mode, but wasn't 100% sure about harnessed. I'll give Britax a call later this morning.
