Question Carseats for low income families

One of the main reasons I became a tech is because our community has a HUGE problem with car seat misuse/use, and it's usually directly related to people not being able to afford any better. A few local organizations have tried to remedy this by giving those families donated seats, but the donated seats are often expired, or even non-Canadian (a lot of foreign immigrants).
I just made contact with one of the people in charge of the most involved not-for-profit, and they were thrilled with the idea of a tech coming on board to help educate families and get them legal, safe seats.
Now I'm aware we can't/shouldn't give people used seats, but does anyone know of the legalities surrounding the donation of new seats? Or know who I should contact about this??

Have you tried contacting car seat manufacturers and asking for donations? Or stores that sell car seats?

That's a good idea!
We're more so wondering if there's any legal issues potentially with giving people car seats. I have no idea how the whole charity thing works, and since this organization has remained not-for-profit to ensure they're able to give out food items without too much red tape, they really don't know a lot about it either haha
