Lighter Harness Booster for Travel (merged thread)

Hi Everyone,
I need a harnessed booster to take on a trip (we will check it at the airport) but ideally it is lighter than the Britax Frontier we use at home just to make the lugging around a bit easier (The Frontier is 25lbs!). I had searched the threads here a few weeks ago but it now appears that the recommended Graco model is recalled. Any new suggestions? My son is 42" high and 39 lbs. I really prefer a harness, he has never been in a high back booster and I don't want to start on a trip.

I would go with the Evenflo maestro. It harnesses to 50 pounds. I would also use it on the plane. You won't have to worry about the seat being damaged or the lap belt not being snug enough.

Lighter Harness Booster for Travel

Hi All,
I need to a lighter weight harnessed booster for travel purposes. While we will check the seat for the plane ride, I'm looking for something less than 25 lbs, which is the weight of his Britax Frontier, for lugging around the airport and switching in and out of rental cars. My son is 4 1/2 years, 42" tall and 39 lbs. I am not ready to try him in a high back booster. I had searched the forum a few weeks ago and the recommended Graco seats are all recalled now and not available online. Any other ideas for a lighter weight harness booster?

Welcome! I wouldn't check his seat. You will never know how the seat was handled during the process. Use it on the plane. This way you'll know how it was treated and your DS can use it. You might also have a problem finding the Evenflo seats considering they were just recalled, I'm not sure if people are having troubles finding them in the store yet... The Graco ones are generally appearing in stores again if you had your mind set on a Graco seat.

I would look at the Evenflo Maestro or Securekid, or the Harmony Defender. But definitely use it on the plane, when we weren't taking strollers (to carry the carseat) we'd just strap them to a folding luggage cart to get them to the plane.
