combination seats - Canada

My oldest is five, pretty mature about safety in the car, and over 40lbs. I was thinking about booster training for short trips, but I'd like to continue harnessing for long trips.

We're a single car family, so I guess I'm hoping there is a combination seat that you can use as a booster without having to uninstall or remove the straps. Does this exist in Canada at all?

I am pretty sure the Britax Frontier Ct allows the straps to pushed to the side (stored) to use as a booster.

Not sure of any other seats that allow that.

Is that pretty functional?

All three britax combination seats say they do that, I just wasn't sure if I'd have to uninstall it to do it.

I'm assuming the latch weight limits are what would make me have to uninstall?

Uninstalling and reinstalling a new FRCt takes literally 30 seconds. You undo the click tight, attach or detatch your seatbelt or UAS strap, push down to close the click tight.

I would try to check belt fit with the seatbelt, to make sure it sits nicely across the hips, touching the thighs (not up on the belly). I have heard it may not have optimal fit for smaller booster riders which tends to be child and vehicle dependent.

I'll be trying anything first, it's going in a Mazda5 bucket seat, so at least I don't have to worry about width lol.

I was looking at the Pioneer, but it doesn't have the click tight install thing. And it kind of sounds like I would need it for this situation...

You don't necessarily need the Click Tight. A lot of regular installs can take 30 seconds or less. Totally depends on the seat & vehicle, though. So you might as well try it and see if it'll work for you.
