Question Is Diono still having issues with faulty Superlatch?

I am looking for a convertible seat for my tiny 4th percentile for height, 19th percentile by weight 9 mo old. She is in a Keyfit now, and it is getting to be annoying, because I always leave the seat in the car. She obviously doesn't need the height in a Radian, but I am short as well, and I need something with a low profile for easier loading into my 2005 Acura MDX. I also love the ratcheting harness of the Radians. Any other suggestions? I am also looking at the Graco Contender and MySize clones, but they seem to be on a little higher base than the Radian. Still, LATCH issues would be a deal-breaker for me.

Thanks :)

Hmm there is the Guide 65, but the headrest can bother some children, and it can need a pool noodle for instillation at right rf level, but overall I found it a pretty decent budget erf seat.

No personal experience with either the Radian or the Graco clones, sorry. But new LATCH rules are saying a maximum of 65 pounds weight of seat plus child for the lower anchors, so Superlatch has become kinda obsolete.

I guess this is what I was referring to. I know there are new LATCH limits, but I was hoping to be able to use latch at least for rear-facing. Apparently this is the reason they switched their name from Sunshine Kids? The LATCH just comes undone with very little force.

They changed the design of the latch belt. Also, they changed their name because they were expanding internationally and Sunshine Kids didn't translate well. Diono is a made up word that can be consistent among languages.

It has nothing to do with the name change.

They made a change in the strap. A few people still claimed to have a problem right when the change first happened, and then all the complaints vanished.

If it slips in your vehicle, you'll know. It just won't hold tight.

Yeah! I think I've found my seat. I'll tough it out with the Keyfit a little longer, so I can safely use an angle adjuster after she is one year.

I saw on a thread here recently that diono now allows the angle adjuster as soon as the baby can sit up -- even if they aren't a year old? Hopefully a tech can confirm if that's true.

I have had no issues with mine loosening. It seems that that particular issue has been fixed - although when I first got the seat I thought I was having that problem. I have used it in a captain's chair in an odyssey and when I first installed it it seemed I could loosen it by wiggling it back and forth hard but then I learned a trick to installing it is to recline the seat back all the way, install, and return seat back (captain's chair) to normal position, and that made it completely solid.

I have read it is OK to make the parental choice to use the AA a little younger, but have also read not all reps will say the same thing if you call. They are releasing new seats in a few months so you might want to wait on a new seat anyway just for that reason - they will have deeper sides but the base part will be the same, so still low and not much sides in the leg area.
