We are leaving on Tuesday and trying to decide which three child seats to take. We have only 4 airplane seats purchased for the 5 of us, so the baby will be lap riding (I know I know) and one seat will have to be gate checked, but we need three for when we get there.

We have these seats to choose from:

1. Evenflo Maestro (will likely bring this one b/c it's light and we have used it before on a plane and it worked fine) (Works for DS1 or DD)
2. Radian (hard to tighten straps for some reason)- have the travel bag (works for DD or DS2)
3. Evenflo Triumph (works for DD or DS2)
4. Evenflo Symphony (works for all 3 kids)
5. Graco Nautilus (works for DS1 and DD)
6. Chicco Nextfit (probably not this one because it's so heavy) (works for all three kids)

You probably don't want the heavier seats Nautilus nor Nextfit. But I wonder how the nextfit would fit on the plane? I would try to pad one of the least expensive seats in a box for gate check. That way if it does get damaged your not out a lot of money. I have heard that some planes the radian folds up to fit in the overhead bin. That might be a good alternative to gate check. I am guessing a quick search cso would pull up radian/overhead bin information for you.

There is a lot of great ideas on here how to get through the airport with multiple seats.

I'd probably do maestro (use on plane), EFTA (use on plane), and Radian (fold and put in overhead bin if they'll let you). Do you have an infant seat that your ds2 fits in? Because I might do that instead of the EFTA if you did.
