Minivan questions

Were considering purchasing a vehicle with our tax refund, a minivan. What is the general opinion on the quest here ? I don't see it talked about much is there a reason I'm missing? We can't afford a sienna even the 04s and 05s are just a little out of budget and from what I've read the oddys from those years are know for trans issues correct?

Is there another one worth looking into? MPV or Sedona ? And even if you want to recommend an SUV I would look into it although I'm really over climbing over the second row bench to access the 3rd row deal which is what we're dealing with now and I need everyday access to 3rd row we currently have 2 RFers and one booster child either lb or hb.

Oh we're shooting for 5k maybe 6.

Is there a reason you're posting here instead of in the vehicles forum? I'll move it unless you want it here for privacy.

To answer your question, we got a 2008 Sedona not quite 2 years ago and we've been very happy with it. The 2006-2010 model years have higher safety ratings (as per IIHS) than comparably priced Siennas and Odysseys, fwiw.

The Ody (one d ;) odyssey ) does have issues but it's hugely hit or miss.

We had a 2005 odyssey and had ZERO issues with it. (we traded it in for a 2011 odyssey)

The 2005 is in a different generation from those with the notorious transmission issues (the prior generation).
