crew cab pickups

I know kids are 5x more likely to be injured in an extended cab pickup but I was wondering if crew cabs (4 full size doors) are included in that statistic. I'm looking at buying an 05 ram 1500 quad cab and wanted to make sure this is a safe vehicle for my 7 month old daughter. She will be in a click connect 40.

Welcome to car-seat.org!

I've never heard that stat either. Your daughter will be very safe in a rear-facing seat in a full-size back seat in a newer vehicle. Whether that's a truck, car, or van, they're ALL very safe! The only vehicles I would caution against as a category would be extended cabs that don't have "proper" back seats (shallow, no padding, side-facing, etc.). Those are either unsafe (side-facing), or can be quite difficult to install on.

Are you looking at the 5-passenger version or the 6-passenger? I just want to point out that the only possibly safe use for that front middle seat is a forward-facing harnessed seat. You'd have to check if that's allowed, if you're looking at the 6-p version. Also realize that the middle rear seat isn't terribly safe for anyone who has outgrown a highback booster since there's no headrest there.

While you're here, do you know about the recommendation to rear-face to at least 2yo and preferably longer? Since you have the 40lb seat, I assume you're planning to rear-face for a long time

Old thread but if you're still looking we have a 2500 04 quad cab. I did go out of my way to find a RFing seat that allowed RFing tethering bc of concerns about the glass being right behind the seat. Other than that the truck has been great- I am curious about the where the statistic came from too.

ETA I found it - seems like they are talking about the ones with the fold down jump seats in the back.
