Unfortunately most people don't realize how important it is to use your carseat on the plane instead of checking it!
The benefits are many; 1., using the seat on the plane actually isn't as hard as many people think, especially when you realize how much calmer your flight will be with your little one comfortable and safe in their own seat.
2. Of course children are much safer in the event of an emergency landing or even turbulence in their carseats.
3. And finally having used your carseat aboard prevents the risk of it suffering damage through baggage handling if its checked.
I would say that most people you see checking carseats probably aren't being deliberately careless, they just don't know. Education is the key!
Very true for all of this. I am wondering why pediatricians don't give this information out. Our ped has no info on carseats. Their walls should be plastered in car seat info.
Mine does, but it's bare minimum, RF to 2, booster at 4, seat belt at 4'9". Although it is better than RF to 1 and 20, and he was a little surprised when I said I plan on keeping Sean RFing to as close to 4 as I can manage, .
That's great! How is he doing now, is he still rear facing? I really wanted to keep DS2 RF until 3 but we only made it to 2.5; he's over 45 lbs now. DS1 is maybe 40 lbs.
